peek-a-boo

Hello Humpers, I hope things have been dandy for all of you and that this little update is a bit interesting at the least. It’s been a while since my last post and I’m just itching to roll this stuff up and put it in the air. Breaking away from the tech-elect trend over to HipHop for a quick beat, I want to give props to People Under The Stairs. I picked up their 7th album a couple months ago at a show and with no regrets. As with most of the duo’s material it was spot on in creating the signature laid back west coast vibe evoking visions of summer BBQs with all the B’s. Also catching my attention was Kenan Bell who has a single on NBA.2K10. He had a good energetic performance and brought a unique flow. The entire show seemed to host contrasting but complimentary stylez and it worked well in the small venue that strengthened the bond between artist and fan by offering opportunity for a one-on-one conversation. In short: high-5 to Thes One, Double K, Kenan, Grieves and all the players that night, keep on keeping it real. Go listen to their stuff and spread the word!… word?

Switching Back, heres some other stuff.

Retro Dream- hailing from Illinois ,retro dream hits the spot with uplifting instrumentals. An electro-fantasy dreamscape of sorts.

Jkale- from the green mtn state, a bit of VT steez in the mix. A heavy vibe and solid rhythm. The two new songs are on spot and Words From The Woods is very much worth the free DL.

Snubluck- from denver, another green and mountainy place, Sounds a lil disorganized but keeps flowin.

Love Is...

Alright these two tacks are a little more on the lovey/ lonely side which is kind of cool. I guess. Anyway, first we have Annie's Anthonio track which was remixed nicely by none other than Designer Drugs. Although more of a house beat, I find this song extremely addictive. The broken lyrics somehow add to the appeal and this is definitely one that I can't put down at the moment.

Computer Club has made an impact in the electronic scene over the past few years and this track should bring him right up to the top. The Wired All Wrong track Elevatin was the perfect candidate for a remix and Mike from Computer Club killed in on this one. This dude's got skill if you haven't noticed so go check out some more of his shit.

Fresh Tracks

I'm still hooked on the good riding music ordeal and I feel like some more of my future posts will be of this nature.

First up is a Skream remix of the Klaxons track, It's Not Over Yet. I honestly love Skream. Some people may feel differently about him but I just find his simplistic style so intriguing. His deep bass driven dubstep can have the potential to blow out your headphones, but at the same time put you in a relaxing mood. This guy has some serious skill and I need to get out to see him. If you like this track I suggest you do the same.

The Hey Champ remix of What You Need by Priors is another smooth roller. Not nearly as bassy as the above track, but this one resides on the funky side of the electronic scene. The song is definitely pretty mysterious sounding and I have been meaning to post it for some time now.

Gnar Shreds

Alright so we have taken a little break on the posting and have been enjoying our break from classes and such. Recently I have been doing a ton of snowboarding and there were a few songs that were just outstanding for ripping down the mountain or just jibbing off of little features. The Glitch Mob thrives off of low key grimy electronic music and although their remixes are slower, there is a lot going on in them.

The Glitch Mob did a remix of Matty G's West Coast Rocks. This is the first hip hop (ish) song that we have posted about on Humpstick but I have been hooked on it for the past few weeks. The Glitch Mob did a great job of fusing dirty electronic with hip hop and this song definitely puts me in the right mood.

Next up is a song by STS9. A good friend of mine recently introduced me to the group and I was amazed to see how lively they are in concert. The Glitch Mob also did a remix of their song Beyond Right Now. Technical and low key. What else could you ask for when looking for a good chilling track?
