AUSTRALIA DOES IT BEST

Where do you look to find up and coming artists? Australia is clearly the answer, which is why I am hooking you up with four hot Australian made and Australian remixed tracks. Some in the music industry have known about Bertie Blackman since 2006 but just recently she started to get attention from people outside of her home continent.

To kick off the Australia on Australia action, I suggest the Mic Newman remix of Blackman’s track ‘Town Of Sorrow’. This is the track that inspired me to post and it’s defiantly worth a listen.

Bertie Blackman - Town Of Sorrow (Mic Newman Remix)

For another nugget, listen to remix duo Duosseudo's new remix of Thump. Yummm.

Bertie Blackman - Thump (Duosseudo Remix)

Now for a little compare and contrast, here are two different takes on Blackman’s ‘Black Cats’. We have remakes by both remix duo Calling In Sick (CIS) and the young blood, Shazam. It’s hard to say which of these is better; though I think I prefer the mellower CIS version.

Slower.

Alright, so I decided it would be fun to rock a post with some slower bpms. Plastician did a very nice remix of Kosheen's song Guilty. The original is a little bit of a mix between some rock with a few hints of drum and bass. It is actually a pretty interesting genre and it is definitely worth a listen although it is faster paced than Plastician's version. I am definitely loving the Plastician remix of the song with their dubby undertones and slower moving bass line. It is more electronic and definitely more of our style. Check out both of these groups and buy their stuff.

This next song has been on my top playlist for the past few days. Hot Chip definitely has something special here with their track titled Take It In. The song starts out a little dark and dreary and then there is this great change of mood where the song begins to take on this uplifting persona. Repeat a few times, and you get something out of the ordinary. Listen for yourself.

Shout Out to the Gamers

First up we have an ill track from the Mau5 himself. This song totally brings back memories of playing Zelda as a kid and who would have thought that it would make an appearance in such a legit song? Deadmau5 does have some serious skills and we love his one of a kind material. Not to mention, the dude has to be a gamer himself, hence the Space Invader neck tattoo. That's some tough shit.

Deadmau5 - You Need A Ladder

This wouldn't be a serious gamer tribute post without some sort of Tetris song. Ever heard of Tetris? I guess some people used to play it back in the day when 8 bit shit was cool. Anyway, check it. This song was remixed by Electrixx and is honestly the best rendition of the Tetris Theme Song that I have heard to this day. It is dirty, completely out of the ordinary, but yet it still retains the great Tetris beats we have all come to know and love. Enjoy this song and don't forget to give props to Electrixx for once again, producing another killer track.

Huntin' Season

Its that time of year again. Go shoot some deer. I don't know what Crookers were thinking when they made this video because it does not really go along with the lyrics of the song but I must say, it is pretty ill. The dude in the video seems pretty badass, and the song gives the whole thing a dark and scary feel. Crookers have been coming out with some pretty sweet stuff recently and the Humpstick crew cant wait to get our hands on their next banger.

CFCF + HCHC

In case you didn’t hear, a member of the HCHC was injured during a DJ battle. We have been spending a lot of time with him in the beat lab/hospital, and we haven’t had time for humping the stick. There is some good news though, we will have a new writer joining us next week!

I consider Montreal to be local to me, but for some reason I don’t go into the city often enough. Its always a good time but I am too busy at the moment to visit.

CFCF is a Montreal DJ and he’s worth checking out, with your ears... Here are three of his newer jams that I hand selected.

4 tha Gurlz!

On all hallows eve girlies of all types step out of their prude good girl gear and into the skankiest, sluttiest, and most nakedest nurses that nannies and nerds get to see all year. The fall is falling and winters coming fast but not without a good reason to party. This post will hopefully give some girl somewhere a good fix of booty bumpin, beat blasting, booby bouncing, bliss. Here is to the girls… all the girls!

“Hey boy, when we first met on the 31st and it was halloween. Ya know what I mean.” I know what you mean… ye wanna be me first mate! You wanna handle my wooden stake and shoot my silver bullets! Light my fire! and rattle my bone!?... Stuff like that might earn me a slap in the face. Good thing there is lots of opportunity not just for love but also laughs. Girls, if you hear a sappy pun or tacky pickup this halloween, enjoy it! Why not? A good laugh is a win win situation. A feminine favorite of mine Benassi Bros- Rockets in the sky (youtube)

More random tracks 4 tha gurlz:

Let the doctor help you get on the dance floor!

Robyn- be mine (ocelot mthfckrs remix)… nice builds and nice drops

M.I.A.- Boyz (the twelves remix) nana na nana na na na na

Dragonette- Fixin to Thrill (Automatic Panic Vs. Dj Cat NYC) Thrilling…

To everyone a wonderful Halloween filled with freaky fun and hopefully some good music. As for the HCHC (Hard Core Humpstick Crew) we’ll be guaranteed some great music with Above and Beyond at the Halloween bash in NYC. It’s the release for anjunabeats vol. 7 a terrific addition to an outstanding series. Im sure at least one of us will let you know how stuffed our pillow cases are with tune tricks and trance treats so make sure to come back for more.

FREEMASONS

The Freemasons are a duo of remix artists/producers from the UK.

They came on my radar at the start of 2007 when they worked with Siedah Garrett to produce 'Rain Down Love'. This was the moment when they moved to heavyweight status in dance music production.

Since 2007 they have dropped a massive number of remixes and built their name further as masters of funky house. Check out their myspace for more info.

This Class Sucks.

Some classes just straight up blow. Seriously, I don't understand why we have to take them if there is nothing to be learned. Anyway, enough of that. Today we have a little dubstep for you. Although the genre is pretty much an acquired taste (sound?) these two remixes are still very mellow and have a good lyrical base to go along with the... well... bass.

If you like Chromeo, then you will definitely enjoy Skream's version of their Night by Night song.

Chromeo - Night By Night (Skream Remix)

Imogen Heap knows where it is at when it comes to low key relaxed tunes. This Enigma remix still honors her style but with some added oomph.

Pop The Glock.

We really don't know what to say about this song except that it has been stuck in our heads for a while. The video that goes with it is pretty rad and it reminds me a little of the Justice - DANCE music video with animations on inanimate objects. Check out Uffie and enjoy.

Miike Snow??

Believe it or not, the new hit sensation Miike Snow, isn't a band named after one of the members. This Swedish band is actually a trio of three very talented artists that consist of Andrew Wyatt who is the songwriter/ vocalist and two producers, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg. Their songs have some very attractive beats for remixes and have gained popularity amongst the electronic and dub scenes. Caspa did a great job re-working the Black and Blue track with smooth dubby undertones that carry throughout the song. The group was a hit from day one and we hope that they will continue with their mellow upbeat tracks.
